Create, delete or restore a user

Creates an account, deletes it, or restores it from the recycle bin during the retention period.

Create a user

Creates the Microsoft 365 account and, optionally, assigns it licenses.

Where to find it : Tenant’s user list → “New user” button

Good to know

  • A temporary password is generated and shown only once.

Delete a user

Two modes: keep the mailbox (it becomes shared, licenses are freed, sign-in is blocked) or a classic delete (account recoverable for 30 days).

Full AccessThe delegate can open the mailbox as if it were their own.

Good to know

  • In “Keep the mailbox” mode, at least one of the two checkboxes must be checked.
  • The “Classic delete” mode requires no field.

Restore a user

Restores a deleted account during its 30-day retention period.

Where to find it : Tenant → “Deleted users” → “Restore” button

Fields to fill in

No field to fill in — a single confirmation button is enough.

Reassign licensesChecked: the licenses the user had before deletion are kept. Unchecked: Microsoft reassigns them automatically but the application removes them right away, to avoid using up quota needlessly.
